Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Greetings from Mount Allison’s Department of Music, where we are celebrating two momentous anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory building, and the 100thanniversary of MtA’s first Bachelor of Music degree! We hope you and your students can join us for some of this year’s festivities and concerts, including our exciting on-campus programs for high school students.
Our very popular Honour Band will be held October 28-30, 2016. Please recommend one or more of your top students for this weekend of music-making with the finest students in the Maritimes. It will inspire and motivate your keenest players. We will choose participants based on the needs of the ensemble and the recommendation of the high school band director. Every band program is guaranteed to receive at least one spot in the band.
We are also happy to introduce a new program for your choral and vocal students: Mount Allison’s Honour Choir will be taking place October 21-23, 2016! This is an opportunity for your strongest singers to work with other wonderful students in a fabulous choral environment, and to learn from the expert faculty at Mount Allison. Please send us your fine voices for a weekend of choral music-making!
NEW this year: students will be housed in Mount Allison dorms.
We expect high demand for these programs, and space is limited, so please recommend your students and have them register ASAP!
